Head of State Attended Ground-breaking Ceremonies to Mark the Start of Construction of Three Industrial Plants

Investments into the project to construct the first of the three plants - Nissan vehicles assembly facility - will make up USD 100 million. Capable of assembling 30 thousand cars per year, the facility is to be put into operation in 2008. All the equipment will be supplied by Nissan plants.
The second plant - Nokian tyres manufacturing facility - is expected to produce about 4 million tyres per year, with at least 50% of the volume to be exported. The project calls for investments in the amount of USD 200 million; the first stage is to be launched in 2008 and the second – in 2010.
The third investment project to be implemented in the industrial park is construction of a General Electric locomotive engines assembly facility estimated at USD 78 million. The facility is expected to be put into operation in Q3 2008.
”The fact that we are launching construction of largest enterprises is a feather not only in the cap of Astana alone, but also in that of the entire Kazakhstan”, President said in his address at the ground-breaking ceremony. According to N. Nazarbayev, over 700 foreign companies have been operating so far in the Kazakh capital.
Head of State also emphasized that 86 innovation projects totally worth USD 56 billion have been chosen under the “30 Corporate Leaders” Program.
