Kazakhstan Prime Minister meets Georgia’s high-ranking officials and heads of international organizations in Tbilisi
Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov who arrived in Georgia to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Georgian President Michael Saakashvili held a number of bilateral meetings while in Tbilisi.
Kazakhstan’s PM met Georgian President Michael Saakashvili; PM Lado Gurgenidze of Georgia; Robert Simmons, NATO's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia; OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut; U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez.
At the meeting of the two Prime Ministers, expansion of economic ties between the two states was on the agenda. Lado Gurgenidze pointed to the importance of Kazakhstan’s investments to the Georgian economy. At the meeting with Robert Simmons, K. Massimov emphasized that Kazakhstan would keep its cooperation with NATO and expressed confidence that in the current year these relations will be developing actively. In his turn, Robert Simmons outlined his vision of further development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and NATO.
At the meeting with K. Massimov, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut passed his congratulations on Kazakhstan’s being elected to chair the OSCE in 2010. The sides discussed measures Kazakhstan is to take prior to holding the actual chairmanship. Mr. Brichambaut noted that he would render all possible assistance to Kazakhstan both in the preparations period and in the course of the actual chairmanship.
At the meeting with the US Secretary of Commerce, the sides dwelt on further development of trade between the two nations.
