Today Kazakhstan Defense Minister Daniyal Akhmetov met Robert Simmons, NATO Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, in Astana.
Today Kazakhstan Defense Minister Daniyal Akhmetov met Robert Simmons, NATO Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, in Astana.
The sides exchanged their views on international and regional security, including counter-terrorism efforts, energy security, and interaction with other regional organizations. They also discussed implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plans between NATO and Kazakhstan adopted in January 2006.
D. Akhmetov and R. Simmons pointed out to significant successes reached along a number of interaction vectors, what testifies to the high effectiveness of partnership. The parties considered further prospects of cooperation between NATO and Kazakhstan, including strengthened dialogue and interaction to reform the Kazakh defense sector and train Kazakh military personnel.
