February 5, 2007 the Kazakh Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources was attended by a US State Department delegation headed by Daniel S. Sullivan, US Assistant Secretary for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs. John Ordway, US Ambassador to Kazakhstan, was also part of the delegation.

The US high-ranking delegation was welcomed by Baktykozha Izmukhambetov, Kazakhstan Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, who briefed the guests on the current state of the Kazakh O&G sector and current acute issues of the trilateral relations among Kazakhstan, US and Russia.
In the course of the talks, the sides discussed potential of Transcaspian oil and gas pipelines; Kazakhstan Caspian Transport System; Caspian Pipeline Consortium; Chinese oil and gas pipelines; and realms of possible cooperation between Kazakhstan and the USA in the O&G sector.
