National Council on Enhancement of Competitive Ability and Promotion of Exports to be established under the Kazakh Government
A special National Council to enhance the national economy competitive ability and to expand Kazakhstani exports is going to be established under the Kazakh Government. Respective draft document was presented to the Government by Galym Orazbakov, Kazakh Minister of Industry and Trade.

”The National Council will be un advisory body, established on the basis of partnership between the public and private sectors”, the Minister announced. According to him, the Council “will be elaborating proposals on key tasks and ways of enhancement of the national economy’s competitive ability, as well as on ways to bolster industrial production output growth and facilitate exports of finished products”. The Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes draft laws and draft regulatory acts covering exports be discussed at the Council’s sittings first. As for the Council’s compound, half of its members will be reps of the private sector. Kazakhstan Prime Minister is expected to chair the Council. Its current work will be closely monitored by two vice chairmen; on behalf of public bodies, the Council will be headed by the Minister of Industry and Trade.
Currently the document is being considered by akims (governors) of oblasts and those of Almaty and Astana cities. Karim Massimov, Head of the Kazakh Government, instructed to thrash out the draft project to submit its finalized version to the PM’s Office in May.
