Paris hosts a Kazakh-French business forum as part of the Kazakhstan’s President visit to France

In the course of President N. Nazarbayev’s visit to France Paris hosted a Kazakh-French business forum.
The event was arranged in partnership with Medef, French Confederation of Business Enterprises. Over 100 businessmen from both France and Kazakhstan attended. The forum is an important step towards successful economic cooperation between the two nations; it opens wide opportunities for joint innovative enterprises and strengthens confidence of French investors to Kazakhstan’s economy.
In the course of the talks the sides reached agreement on developing cooperation in machinery building, telecoms, transport, energy, construction, infrastructure projects to be implemented in individual country regions and cities. Companies have agreed to jointly implement projects in space exploration, tourism, banking and other spheres. Kazakhstan unveiled its investment opportunities for French businessmen.
The Kazakh panel of speakers included B. Sultanov, Minister of Economic Affairs and Budget Planning; S. Akhmetov, Minister of Transport and Communications; A. Isekeshev, Aide to President Nazarbayev. The French side was lead by Anne-Marie Idrac, French Minister of State for Foreign Trade.
The forum resulted in signing of 9 agreements, notably agreement between the Governments on establishing a Council of Businessmen; an agreement between KazAtomProm and Area on increased uranium extraction in Kazakhstan. Samruk state holding company of Kazakhstan and Thales had talks on establishing a JV specialized in military and civil electronics.
As Mr. A. Isekeshev informed, leading businessmen of France are interested in Kazakhstan’s economy and intend to launch high tech enterprises in Kazakhstan.
“Today’s forum has seen signing of a number of agreements with leading French companies. This testifies to their readiness to invest into the Kazakh economy. It’s a great achievement and a sign of a favorable investment climate established in Kazakhstan”, he said.
