Kazakhstan’s PM Karim Massimov meets participants of the Asia Society’s Second International Business Conference in Astana

June 12, Kazakhstan’s PM Karim Massimov met participants of the Asia Society’s Second International Business Conference in Astana.

The meeting with Richard C. Holbrooke, Asia Society Chairman, focused on the agenda of the business conference scheduled for June 13 in Astana.

Apart from that, the sides dwelt on the current economic situation both worldwide and in Kazakhstan.

When pointing to economic and political development prospects of Kazakhstan, Richard C. Holbrooke voiced his support to Kazakhstan’s OSCE presidency in 2010.

Richard C. Holbrooke expressed confidence that “whoever wins the elections in the USA, the bilateral cooperation will keep on developing”.

In his turn, Karim Massimov stated that Kazakhstan adheres to the principles of open and reliable partnership relations and supports further strengthening of ties between the two nations.

In the afternoon, the PM met Daniel Yergin, President of the Cambridge Energy Research Associates. The sides exchanged their opinions on the current state of the global energy markets and trends of the Kazakhstan’s energy sector development.

Daniel Yergin noted that the “government demonstrates full awareness of the Kazakhstan’s role and responsibility at the global energy market”.

Some of the issues to be covered at the conference were discussed in the course of the PM K. Massimov’s meeting with a delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The delegation represents leading Indian companies operating in energy, construction, chemicals, machinery building and agriculture.

“The high level and wide representativity testify to the India’s serious intentions to expand bilateral trade-and-economic cooperation. We are looking at the prospects of bilateral relations with optimism and expecting great results”, K. Massimov said.
