Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister meets IMF delegation

June 15 in Astana Prime Minister Karim Massimov met IMF delegation.

“Despite the global financial crisis, the macroeconomic situation in Kazakhstan allows the nation not to turn to the IMF for financial resources”, said Karim Massimov following the briefing.

“We want to be a part of the international financial world, and it’s rather hard to do so without the IMF’s support. Now we are approaching a period when all nations, including Kazakhstan, are starting preparatory works for a post-crisis stage. Therefore, we would want to carry out works to put in place a new financial architecture in partnership with the IMF”, emphasized the Prime Minister.

“I am confident that if all the measures planned by the Kazakh Government are implemented throughout 2009, the national economy will cope with all its tasks; in the H1 2009 we are expecting the global economy to start its recovery. And we hope Kazakhstan’s economy will follow the recovery trends”, said International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn following his talks with the Prime Minister Karim Massimov.
