Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan agree on water and electric power issues
Following the talks behind closed doors in Bishkek, Prime Minister Karim Massimov of Kazakhstan and Prime Minister Igor Chudinov of Kyrgyzstan told the media that they had reached principle agreement on water-and-electric power cooperation. Presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and Kurmanbek Bakiev had dwelt on the issues in Baku Oct 3.
“The major issue of great importance to our both nations is water-and-electric power cooperation and preparations for the winter heating season. We have reached principle agreement on work of our electric power generation systems with a possible exit of Uzbekistan out of the common system. The agreed mode will enable to painlessly live through the winter period”, Karim Massimov said.
In his turn, Igor Chudinov noted that the parties had agreed on coal supplies to Kyrgyzstan which would ensure stable work of the Bishkek-based thermal electric power generation plant.
