Kazakhstan will assume the presidency of the OSCE in 2010. This was announced at the Madrid Ministerial Council sitting where the country’s bid was considered.
Today in the Government House Kazakh Prime-Minister Karim Massimov met with Muhammad Omar Al Barrani, Libyan Secretary for Asia of the National Committee for External Relations and International Cooperation.

Today, November 29 2007, agreement on establishment of a joint venture between Samruk Holding and UC RUSAL via acquisition by Kazakh party of 50% share in Bogatyr and Severnyi coal mines has been signed in Astana. The agreement was signed by Samruk-Energo Chairman of the Board Yerlan Upushev and Director General of UC RUSAL Alexander Bulygin.
As of today, protocols on Kazakhstan’s accession into the WTO have been signed with 18 out of 25 countries with which Kazakhstan holds bilateral negotiations. This was announced today by Ms. Zhanar Aitzhanova, Kazakh Vice Minister of Industry and Trade.
The sides discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation, notably implementation of the two presidents’ instructions to boost trade-and-economic cooperation.
Today Astana is hosting the XI sitting of the Russian-Kazakh Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation.
Today, while touring round West Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov will inaugurate construction of the Karachaganak – Uralsk Gas Pipeline.
Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov signed a respective governmental regulation “to approve the project of constructing the Karachaganak – Uralsk gas pipeline”. This was announced by him today in the course of the meeting with Roger Fox, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) Director General.
