Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov speaks at the 2nd Mining Congress
“If prices for mining commodities reach their peak levels, the state will raise taxes on subsurface use”, said Prime Minister Karim Massimov when speaking at the 2nd Mining Congress of Kazakhstan.
He reminded that within the crisis conditions, the state had reduced taxes for mining enterprises. He stressed that the natural riches belong to the people of Kazakhstan and urged mining companies “to raise profitability through raising labor efficiency, introducing new technology and taking other relevant measures”.
When closing his speech, the Prime Minister urged to invest in labor safety. “Managers of mining enterprises should emphasize safety in mines and other facilities; part of the currently available equipment and machinery is approaching the end of their operating life and respective measures should be taken… otherwise unresolved issues will be haunting the industry”.
