Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov meets French delegation headed by Anne-Marie Idrac, State Secretary for Foreign Trade

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral ties between Kazakhstan and France.

Today at the Government’s House in Astana Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov met a French delegation headed by Anne-Marie Idrac, State Secretary for Foreign Trade.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral ties between Kazakhstan and France.

Anne-Marie Idrac briefed the PM on the results of the 7th regular sitting of the Intergovernmental Committee for Economic Cooperation held today in Astana and presided over by B. Sultanov, Kazakh Minister of Economy and Budget Planning.

Anne-Marie Idrac lauded the committee’s work and reiterated France’s interest in further developing cooperation with Kazakhstan.

“I believe the new foreign economic policy pursued by France in Central Asia and Kazakhstan will bring forward tangible results”, K. Massimov said.

The sides noted that bilateral cooperation has been successfully developing in the realms of energy, transport and space exploration.

These are sectors in which the sides are considering joint projects targeted at modernization of the national economy. The intergovernmental committee has thrashed out a raft of issues to draft some bilateral agreements.

When closing the meeting, the sides expressed confidence in further successful expansion of Kazakh-French ties.
