March 11-12 Washington hosted 5th sitting of the Joint Kazakh-US Committee for Energy Cooperation which was attended by a Kazakh delegation of energy sector officials headed by Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Sauat Mynbayev.
In the course of the visit to Geneva, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Marat Tazhin met his Slovakian counterpart Jan Kubis.
At the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Marat Tazhin noted that Kazakhstan regards as important the work done by the USA and Russia under the agreement on reduction of strategic offensive arms.
According to preliminary estimates of the Kazakhstan’s Transport Ministry, annual average economic benefit brought by the West Europe – West China international transit corridor will make up KZT 55 billion. This was announced today at a Government’s sitting by Serik Akhmetov, Kazakh Transport Minister.
Nurlan Iskakov, Kazakhstan’s Environment Minister, met a delegation of the European Commission headed by Adriaan van der Meer, Head of the EC delegation to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The talks focused on cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU in environment protection.
While in Abu Dhabi, Karim Massimov met President H. H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Prime Minister Muhammad bin Rashid al-Maktum; Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; and Dubai World Chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.
Kazakhstan does not welcome unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo, said Erzhan Ashikbayev, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman at a weekly press briefing.
