Kazakhstan and Canada discuss bilateral cooperation
Prime Minister Karim Massimov of Kazakhstan met Margaret Skok, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. In the course of the meeting the sides discussed bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Canada.
“Gold and currency reserves are close to 40% of the nation’s GDP”, said today Galymzhan Pirmatov, Vice Minister for Economic Affairs and Budget Planning, when reporting at a conference focused on Kazakhstan amid the global liquidity crisis.

Kazakhstan’s PM Karim Massimov meets Richard A. Boucher, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs
Today at the Government’s House in Astana, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov met Richard A. Boucher, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs.
Kazakhstan and France plan to expand energy cooperation, said Prime Minister Francois Fillon of France at a press briefing following his meeting with Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Governments of France and Kazakhstan sign note of intent to develop strategic partnership
Today at the Government’s House in Astana, Prime Minister Karim Massimov of Kazakhstan and Prime Minister Francois Fillon of France signed a note of intent to proceed with setting up of strategic partnership.
Fitch Ratings says in a special report released today that the institutional frameworks of Kazakhstan subnationals have proved their viability since they were amended in 2005 and demonstrated gradual decentralisation.
This was the task voiced today by the region's governor at the meeting with Eni delegation headed by Stefano Cao, head of Eni's exploration and production unit.
